This version was translated by Protestant refugees who fled from England to Geneva to escape the Catholic Queen “Bloody” Mary (ruled England 1553-1558).

Earliest English Bible printed in Roman type and with verse divisions.

Between 1560 and 1644 at least 140 editions appeared of the Geneva Bible.

This version was brought to the new world by the Pilgrims in 1620.
