Starry Night Devotionals

A pilgrimage to find the King.

Blessed are those ... who have set their hearts on pilgrimage (Psalm 84:5 NIV)

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the
Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17).

In the fall of my 40th year, I received a great gift -- the stars.  A friend had suggested there was understanding and significance in the heavens that was lost on us today (see Psalm 19:1-4).  Thereafter, I embarked on journey of reading and studying that has richly blessed me for many years.  This web site is a result of that journey to both see and understand the glory of the God declared in the heavens.    ~~Debbie Williams Belote

This web site:
bullet

Explores the heavens as signs and symbols of Christ and his redeeming work (Psalm 19:1-4).

bullet

Explores the heavens as a Christian evidence. (The Bible, the names of stars, and the signs that
contain them are witnesses of each other.)

A good place to start is with the Bible story of the Visit of Magi.  Then explore the site. Afterwards, using Links I Like download a free astronomy program that shows what constellations are currently seen at night in your area.  Study your star chart for a few minutes; then find an open patch of sky, away from city lights if possible. Take a lounge chair or old quilt for comfort, a  pair of binoculars, and enjoy identifying the signs (constellations).  Meditate on the Scriptures and stories contained in the signs.  Locate significant stars.  Enjoy the breathtaking magnitude of God's love on display!

"My eyes stay open through the watches of the  night,  that I may meditate on your promises.."
